Ivan Plusсh on the 56th Venice Biennale 2015
The 56th Venice Biennale of contemporary art is now officially open. The structure of the exhibition consists of 3 parts: the main exhibition, exhibitions in the national pavilions and the parallel program.
In the building of the Russian pavilion, designed by architect Shchusev, the project of Irina Nakhova, the author of the first "total installations", was presented. One of the rooms of the pavilion is built on the contrast of the red color - a symbol of totalitarianism, oppression, propaganda, and green color – a symbol of hope, utopia. Irina Nakhova has also changed the color of the facades of the pavilion: for the whole period of the 56th Biennale (until November 2015), it has acquired its original dark green color, instead of the usual ochre.
Anna Nova art gallery is especially pleased that our artist - Ivan Plusсh – participates in the parallel program of the 56th Venice Biennale. 3 of his works, including "The Illusion of the Disappearance of Completeness", are presented at the exhibition "Glasstress", along with works by such artists as Damien Hirst, the Chapman brothers, Ilya and Emilia Kabakov, etc.
This exhibition is a collective project of the Hermitage and the Murano glass Berengo Studio. The Studio is making a similar project within the Biennale not for the first time: its essence is that modern artists create their works out of Murano glass. This year the concept of Glasstress was developed by Dmitry Ozerkov, who invited artists to reflect on parallels between the Gothic style and contemporary art. The exposition is located in two places: in the hall of the Venetian Palace – Palazzo Franchetti, and in the building of Berengo Foundation on the island of Murano.
You can see the exhibition until November 11.
