Anna Nova Gallery presents the exhibition of Valeria Abendroth, artist and sculptor, the finalist of NOVA ART CONTEST 2019.
The art installation «Laboratorium suggerere» mimics a medical development laboratory, a walkable space where reality and phantasy come together. Due to the colors and the smooth shapes, the room might appear attractive initially, but with a closer look a feeling of discomfort might occur. 3D-printed body organs, bones and veins as well as abstract art objects made of artificial materials such as plastic, wax and silicone are part of the work. These sculptural objects are reminiscent of prostheses, body parts and biological structures, but they are free of identity. In a state of mutation, they must be understood as the looming beginning of something that we cannot fully capture and understand yet.
The artist aims to create an impulse and to establish an awareness for the current development and transformation of health and life sciences. Visitors are invited to sensually capture this clinically artificial space with the sense of touch, visual sense and sense of smell.
“With my work I would like to activate the deep sensitivities of the human body: When we feel and touch, we create a feeling of self and a realistic spatial impression through the sense of touch”.
