"Sacricial Lamb" is a series of works by Ilya Fedotov-Fedorov, which includes three masksmade from fabric and wax. These materials serve as metaphors for the body, memory, andtrauma. During its creation, the artist also incorporated fragments of his own clothing, enhancing the sense of physicality and intimacy. The fabric thus replaces the face, creating anew skin, a new layer of identity. In Fedotov-Fedorov's practice, the mask becomes an autonomous object, through whichcontradictory impulses can be expressed. It conceals and protects while also being the resultof bodily disassociation and adaptation to social expectations.

I created the first mask for Halloween. It's my way of exploring the ritual aspect, as well aspeople's love for hiding and becoming someone else. This experience can be bothchallenging and liberating. Similar to many of my other works, this series explorestransformation — the transition from a human to a creature, half-animal.
The white mask was made from my old sweatshirt. In the black one I use the same fabric, covered with wax and my piercing ring. When creating the third mask, I added a variety ofpigments to give it a marble-like appearance. It's a play with materials, so the viewer can't tellexactly what this mask is made of.
