Ilya Fedotov-Fedorov explores the phenomenon of transformation through the medium ofmasks. Most of his characters are transitional beings straddling the boundary between theanimal and the human. In his new work, “Kiss My Nectar,” the artist continues his experimentby combining anthropomorphic imagery with botanical elements. This sculpture references Vladimir Vernadsky’s concept of human autotrophy, according to which humans will cease toexploit the Earth and other biological species for food once they learn to synthesize energydirectly from sunlight. “I also compare this image to a person who speaks through owers. Hissweet voice and beautiful words lure others with their nectar, but in reality, it may turn out tobe a trap,” says Ilya Fedotov-Fedorov.
