Sylvia Javén Finnish, b. 1988

In her works, Sylvia Javén often refers to images of nature and her own body, exploring the issues of survival, loneliness, as well as relations between people and nature. The artist does video, performance, installations, and audio-works, specially focusing on poetic and minimalist narration.

 

A graduate from the University of Applied Sciences (Finland) and the Academy of Art and Design in the University of Gothenburg (Sweden). Sylvia’s projects have been exhibited in Finland, Sweden, Russia, Germany, Denmark, and the UK. She is a five- times winner of the grant from the Swedish-Finnish Cultural Foundation.

 

Her works are in the collection of the National Centre for Contemporary Arts in Moscow.
