Internal Cinema: Vladimir Shinkarev

28 April - 10 June 2006

In 2001-2006 Vladimir Shinkarev painted 38 pictures about cinema. Like a line of film fragments the pictures encircle the walls of the gallery. They seem to be drawing the silhouette of cinema, that presents the image of the XX century in its best way.

Looking at the film clips we recollect the historical events and characters: the revolution of 1905, a hero Chapaev, feverish lechery of Weimar Germany and stiff everyday life of the Italian outskirts, the XVIII  century of Kazanova through the black glasses of sexual revolution of 1960-70, the show window of capitalism in Batman’s virtual certainty – film reality substitutes life and fantasy.
