Anna Nova Gallery presents Evgeny Granilshchikov's project ‘Mist,’ curated by art historian and critic Viktor Miziano. This is the artist's first solo exhibition in St. Petersburg. The gallery will display a series of photographs and graphic works, as well as installations and video art. Visitors will be able to see works by the artist that have not previously been exhibited in Russia.

‘Mist’ is the key metaphorical image used by the artist in this project. Mist refers to the blurred boundaries of reality, emphasising its fluidity and uncertainty, as well as distorting familiar forms of perception and the linearity of time. In his works, Granilshchikov reinterprets familiar oppositions and contrasts. It is not ‘black’ and ‘white’ that come to the fore, but the variety of halftones that exist between them.

‘Fog is also a metaphor for the disintegration of historical time,’ explains project curator Victor Mizziano. In conditions of uncertainty, Evgeny seeks to reveal fragments of everyday life, fleeting gestures and personal documents. Like an archaeologist, he collects these invisible traces to delineate the boundaries of personal and collective experience. The artist creates a language that allows us to critically rethink the past and its role in the process of self-discovery.
