On August 20, 2025, Uldus Bakhtiozina’s film “Perfectly Rejected”, created entirely with the help of artificial intelligence, premiered.
The film was presented to the audience as part of the Koroche Film Festival. This marks the first case in Russia of a film generated by a director through artificial intelligence being released on the big screen.
“Perfectly Rejected” is a pseudo-documentary that gives voice to porcelain figurines struggling to survive in a world obsessed with perfection. Some never passed quality control, while others were chosen but faced unexpected trials at the hands of their owners. Through confessional monologues, they share their stories – absurd, tragic, and strikingly familiar.
Blending post-irony with existential melancholy, the film explores the fragility of beauty, the silent rejection of imperfection, and the socially imposed pursuit of the ideal.
“By mixing irony with existential reflection, ‘Perfectly Rejected’ shows how, in a world where beauty becomes disposable, the pressure to conform to an ideal only accelerates self-destruction,” says Uldus about the film.
