The public art object has appeared in the science city as part of “Memory Capsule,” the final exhibition of the Halo art residency.
The object consists of several layers: a metal skeleton is covered with polymer “flesh” and a protective polyurea “skin,” and birds can nest in its recesses. Part of the work is assembled from real instruments and components donated by staff of the Institute of Chemical Physics: fragments of equipment from scientific experiments and explosions.
Artists Dmitry and Elena Kavarga call the work “Chernogolovka Substance,” bringing together two opposing forces: organic chaos and precise scientific calculation.
“Memory Capsule” exhibition open until November 8, 2026
