Contour.Photo

Anna Nova Gallery is participating in the «Contour.Photo» fair in Nizhny Novgorod. The gallery will present Ulduz Bakhtiozina's solo stand as part of the photography fair. The exhibition will include works from the «Russland», «Created life», «Little humpbacked horse» and «Fur coat is on the line».

The booth will present original photographs by Uldus Bakhtiozina produced over several years. The artist engages with questions of self-identification examining how social roles are reshaped at the intersection of archetypes of the past and stereotypes of the present in her projects. Her visual language gravitates toward fantasy and escapism. Her work becomes a form of «documentation» of her dreams. The artist draws inspiration from fairy tales and Russian folk art and he creates and embodies his own models including makeup, costumes and various artifacts.
