Kiaf SEOUL 2026

The gallery’s booth will feature a solo project by Ilya Fedotov‑Fedorov, which continues the conceptual line of the artist’s solo exhibition “Second Skin”.

The theme of Kiaf SEOUL 2026 is “Coexistence”. In Ilya’s project, this issue is explored through a reflection on the experience of otherness. In his works, the artist investigates what lies beyond the boundaries of normativity. He examines the notion of the “other” through the lens of corporeality and social constructs.

The main materials Fedotov‑Fedorov works with — fleece, wax, and leather — serve as metaphors for the body, memory, and transformation. In his sculptures, fabric replaces the real face, becoming a social mask, a new epidermis, and a surface of identity.

In Ilya’s practice, the mask is an independent artistic object where contradictory impulses collide. It simultaneously conceals and protects, and it is also the result of bodily dissociation and forced adaptation to social expectations.

Kiaf SEOUL 2026의 주제는 '공존 '입니다. 일리야의 프로젝트는 타자성 에 대한 경험을 성찰함으로써 이 주제를 탐구합니다. 작가는 신체성과 사회적 구성이라는 관점을 통해 '타자 '의 개념을 고찰하며, 규범성의 경계 너머에 존재하는 것들을 탐구합니다.

페도토프-페도로프 가 주로 다루는 소재인 플리스, 왁스, 가죽은 각각 신체, 기억, 그리고 변형을 상징하는 은유로 기능합니다. 그의 조각에서 천은 본래의 얼굴을 대신하여 사회적 가면이자 새로운 표피, 그리고 정체성이 드러나는 표면이 됩니다.

그의 작업 세계에서 가면은 상충하는 충동들이 격돌하는 자율적인 예술적 오브제입니다. 가면은 대상을 가리는 동시에 보호하는 이중적 역할을 수행하며, 사회적 기대에 부응하기 위해 강요된 적응의 결과인 ‘신체적 해리 ’를 구현해냅니다.
