Public program for the exhibition

As part of this year's Biennale of Private Collections, the gallery is presenting the first large-scale exhibition from the private collection of contemporary Russian and foreign art by Zoya Galeyeva, a patron of the arts.

The exhibition will showcase 80 pieces in such media as painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, and ceramics. The exhibition will feature works by artists represented at the gallery, including: Maria Agureeva, Alexandra Gart, Sasha Kokacheva, Haim Sokol, Ilya Fedotov-Fyodorov and Dima Filippov. The project will also introduce works by: Patricia Ayres, Isaac Chong Wai, David LaChapelle, Evgeny Antufiev, Lisa Bobkova, Kirill Garshin, Irina Korina and Egor Fedorichev, as well as many other significant figures from the contemporary art scene.

The concept of the exhibition is based on psychoanalytic theory. It focuses on the concept of the shadow developed by Carl Gustav Jung. According to the philosopher, the shadow is the rejected part of the human psyche. In this context, the practice of collecting art becomes a way of meeting the unconscious, and the choice of works is not just an aesthetic decision, but an act of self-discovery, in which each work reflects a part of the collector's personality. This process becomes a form of personal therapy. It helps to see oneself from a new angle and open the way to a profound transformation. To collect art is to collect oneself by asking questions about why certain works resonate internally.

Spread over three floors of the gallery, the exhibition will explore different approaches to collecting as a transformative practice: collection as garden, collection as golem and collection as dream.

"Being a collector means asking yourself questions. Why this particular work? Why does it resonate? Art reflects not only how we want to appear, but also who we really are -

in vulnerability, in desire, in the search for a foothold."

Zoya Galeyeva, collector, patron of art

The project is supported by the Geometry Foundation, founded by Zoya Galeyeva in 2024. The foundation's activities are aimed at developing the art environment and art market in Russia, supporting young authors, galleries and institutions. Priorities include grants for artists and galleries, publishing and educational initiatives, participation in international fairs and development of its own collection.
