A group project The Circus We Are dedicated to the exploration of the circus phenomenon. Curator Joanna de Vos believes that art and circus both play a vital role in our lives and have a power to reveal the essence of humanity.
The exhibition is now on view at four venues: Félicien-Rops-Museum, Namur Museum of Ancient Arts, Le Delta Cultural Center and Belgian Gallery. The works by Uldus Bakhtiozina can be seen at two of them: the three-channel video installation The Circus 17 — at Le Delta Cultural Centre, and a photographic self-portrait Hold me from laughing — at Belgian Gallery, which features a series of artist’s self-portraits as clowns. Among participants of the project are Marina Abramović, Jan Fabre, Taus Makhacheva and others.
