Uldus Bakhtiozina’s theatrical debut in Saint-Petersburg

The artist performance ‘Fur at Stake’ will be on 23 December at the creative space Third Place

Not a play, nor ‘text reading’ or ‘genre production’, but a synthesis of traditional folklore and topical philosophy, synchronized with generative audiovisual scenography, contemporary choreography, including Japanese butoh dance, video art and poetry. The program of the evening also includes a premiere of Uldus's new video work ‘Fur in the Game’,  an informal talk with the artist, cocktails and infusions by ‘Vodka Onegin’ and flower compositions created by florists from ‘Flower Bureau Turcan’.

‘The performance action mimics the human journey using the soundscape of the viewer's memory,’ says Uldus. — ‘I suggest everyone shall follow their own path by listening to lullaby, wedding and funeral lamentations, and consequently cope with phases of uncertainty and nonsense recognition, explore symmetry in relationships and come to purification by putting their 'fur' at stake.  Along the way, you will meet tzarevnas (royalties) from fairytales  who find themselves in a variety of circumstances and forced to think according to the philosophy of Nassim Taleb. Their path, paved with hogweed, leads to a shabby setting where you can hear lullabies and see the occasional moves of black swans.

Until December 25, inclusive, in the historical mansion you can see not only Uldus’s new fim, but also video works of the past years (‘Titanium lie’, ‘Circus 17’, ‘The second day after birthday’).

A special gratitude for supporting the event to ‘Vodka Onegin’ — Simple Wine brand, and  ‘Flower Bureau Turcan’.
