It’s possible to imagine what will remain after: Maria Agureeva

28 April - 2 June 2018

My main task as an artist is to show how the body becomes a hybrid space, in which the materiality of human flesh is connected with individual consciousness and identity

Maria Agureeva, artist

The exhibition It's possible to imagine what will remain after is a personal project of the artist Maria Agureeva, who began her career in St. Petersburg at the end of the 2000s, and now is successfully working in Moscow, dedicated to the problem of body and materiality, both as a phenomenon and as a philosophical concept.

Turning to a wide range of media in her spectacular and provocative works (photography, painting, sculpture, objects, and finally performance and video), using her own body as a starting point, Agureeva focuses on the sensual nature of art. At the same time, she exposes a very burning conflict: in her works, the individual, the specific, the natural inevitably collides and intertwines with the general, imposed, normative.
