From June 11, 2026, PERMM presents a group project titled “The Overture Sounds.” It features works by two artists from the Anna Nova Gallery — Alexandra Gart and Anna Andrzhievskaya.
The exhibition brings together selected pieces from the PERMM Museum of Contemporary Art’s collection. In this project, the museum’s collection is revealed to the viewer as a polyphony, uniting works by key figures of Russian contemporary art.
Despite the title, the project creators have omitted musical accompaniment within the exhibition space, inviting the viewer to engage in discovering new dialogues between the works of artists from different generations, using the universal language of music. The exhibition comprises separate sections, structural groups, themes, and repetitions, mirroring the musical form of an overture.
The exhibition curator is Alisa Nikolaeva, a cultural studies scholar and coordinator of exhibition projects at the pop/off/art gallery.
