Pavel Brat b. 1987

Paper is my language

In his works Pavel Brat experiments with paper, studying its properties and relationships with other materials. From collage Pavel Brat has moved to voluminous forms, creating objects and reliefs from dense magazine sheets and books. The current author’s collage technique is a combination of a technical method in which the color in the paper is perceived as a means of collecting mass and filling the drawing, and a genre method in which there is a deliberate collision of realities and birth on the basis of this new sense.

Personal projects were presented in the UK, China, Russia and Montenegro. He was nominated for the Sergei Kurehin Prize for Contemporary Art in 2013. He participated in the 55th Venice Biennale, III Baltic International Biennale and III Moscow International Junior Arts Biennale. The works are in the collection of Museum of Organic Culture of Colomna, Museum of Modern Art of Erarta, State Russian Museum, National Museum of Art of Montenegro, Boise Art Museum (USA).
